Beginners Modern Calligraphy Workshops
Book your place onto one of the UK’s most popular Modern Calligraphy Workshops. With over 1000 people having attended Leigh Calligraphy’s classes, you will leave the workshop inspired to carry on your new hobby at home.
The Beginners Workshop will provide you with an Introduction to the art of nib and ink calligraphy. You will begin by creating basic marks and strokes using a straight penholder, then progress to forming Heather’s lower and uppercase alphabet. Following this, you will practise joining letters to write words and phrases and leave the workshop with a beautiful A4 quote ready to frame at home.
You will receive the Leigh Calligraphy Beginners Kit to take home which includes a nib, straight pen holder, a pot of ink, Leigh Calligraphy practice worksheets, a tools booklet and layout paper, all inside a personalised bag with your name handwritten in beautiful calligraphy.
Workshops are held every six weeks at Stop The World Cafe, Leigh-on-sea
£55 includes all resources and a cake a hot drink provided by Stop The World.

Intermediate Calligraphy Workshops
The Intermediate Workshop is for anyone who has already attended a beginners class and looking to improve technique and explore a range of Heather’s favourite resources, materials and surfaces. In the session you will learn how to create and adapt your own ink to suit your project and use metallic inks on beautifully textured papers. You will be taught how to use an oblique penholder to give your calligraphy a more professional right angled slant and learn how to create your own guide sheets to improve different elements of your lettering.
This workshop is project based and Heather will have a variety of different activities for you to try, including making your own calligraphy wrapping paper, gift bags, gift tags and ceramic decorations.
You will receive an oblique pen holder, a new nib and further guide sheets and take them home in a personalised bag. This is your chance to practise and develop technique with lots of one-to-one help and guidance.

DIY Calligraphy Doormat Workshop
This Workshop will provide you with everything you need to make your very own doormat with any quote or personalisation you like! When booking the session you will let Heather know the quote you would like to create on your doormat and she will have a template ready for you to use on the day.
You will spend time learning about hand lettering and how to create the desired thick and thin lettering strokes characteristic of modern calligraphy. You will then practise your design on card (many times!) before confidently transferring your design onto your doormat. Finally, you will add outdoor paint to ensure your new doormat is suitable for outdoor use.
Heather will be available to give lots of support and tuition and you will leave proudly with your new doormat in hand!

Maybe you are hosting a hen party, Christmas crafting evening, work social or celebrating a special birthday and are looking for a creative group activity. Minimum of 6 people required.
